The Melting Pot

A Fondue Restaurant

This restaurant just opened at Carousel Center, 306 Hiawatha Blvd., Syracuse, NY 13204.  We took the kids here this past Sunday.

The Melting Pot offers attentive service, fine wines, the highest quality fresh  ingredients, a variety of cooking styles, unique sauces and chocolate fondue.

We had the best time here.  The waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable.  If she didn't know the answer, she went and got it quickly.  We actually gave her the standard 15% tip because she was so good.

So we ordered the Cheese Fondue.  This comes with rustic artisan breads, fresh vegetables, and crisp Granny Smith Apples.  You can choose one cheese fondue per cooktop at your table.   Yes, they actually prepare the fondue right at your table and tell you step by step what they are adding.

The Cheese Fondue

Our choice of cheeses were

Cheddar Cheese Fondue:  Aged medium-sharp cheddar and Emmanthaler Swiss cheeses melt beautifully with lager beer, garlic and seasonings.

Wisconsin Trio Cheese Fondue:  Rich Fontina and Butterkase join buttermilk bleu cheese, white wine, scallions and a hint of sherry.

We did not think to ask the waitress before we ordered if they had a gluten-free menu.  As she was pouring the beer base into the cheese mix, my son says "  I can't have that kind and told her he was allergic to gluten.   She then asked if we would like to have her make it gluten-free.  My son told her no, he could eat the other choice.  After a few dips into the Wisconsin Trio Cheese Fondue, our daughter decided that the taste of wine was overbearing.  She was right.  We then asked our waitress if they made the cheeses without alcohol.  She said yes then asked if we would like her to make a new batch without the wine. She did so and brought us out even more dippers.   The non-alcoholic dip  is made with a vegetable broth and was even more delicious.  For the four of us it was $64 so being a little expensive, this will be a place we return to when we can splurge.  The next time we go, it will be for the Chocolate Fondue.

Remember, they have a Gluten-free and Alcohol free menu!

This past Sunday, we took our kids out to breakfast at Jumbo's.  This diner boasts the best breakfast in town.  It really is the best breakfast in town at great prices.  The four of us ate for $27.00.  The owner and staff always treat everyone like famiy.   They serve pancakes the size of a small pizza.  The french toast is to die for.  We have eaten breakfast here on numerous occassions and will continue to eat here.  We have never had a bad experience here.

99 Restaurants

Chain of family restaurants in New England.

We love this restaurant.  The steaks and Prime Rib are always tender, juicy and mouth-watering good!  Tonight we went there and with me having a toothache, I knew I wouldn't be able to chew beef.  So, I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana.  I was very disappointed with it.  The Chicken was so crispy the breading was hard, the chicken itself was dry.  This dish also comes with Penne Pasta with sauce.  This part of the meal was tepid at best.  The overall meal had no taste.

My husband had the Country Fried Chicken with  garlic red skin mashed potatoes, brocolli, and a honey butter biscuit.  He was pleased with his meal.

We will definitely continue to visit this restaurant but, I will stick with their Prime Rib or Steak.

This restaurant offers a GLUTEN FREE menu.

Here is another restaurant that used to have good food.  The last 3 times we have been here, we were very disappointed with the food. Although the staff is warm and welcoming, the food is not restaurant quality anymore.  This is another restaurant we will never return to.

If you want downhome cooking with lots of food and inexpensive prices, this is it.  We ate here for less than $25 and we got platters full of the Pot Roast Dinner.  Pot roast with gravy, heaping homemade fries, green beans, and real potatoes!  The roast just broke right apart and melted in your mouth.  My husband got the mashed potatoes.  They were made with real potatoes.  I wish I had thought to ask because I would have had them but, the fries were awesome!

Collosseo's Italian Restaurant

Collosseo's Italian restaurant is located at 469 West Seneca Street Sherrill, NY 13461.  We visit here often.  You get fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

During our most recent visit, my husband and I both ordered the Chicken Riggies, julienne cut breasts of chicken sauteed with peppers, mushrooms and scallions reduced with white wine and simmered in a sweet marinara sauce presented with rigatoni.  It was delicious.  You get a large portion so you will not go away hungry!

All of their dinners are prepared to order. This takes time so they ask that you please be patient.  You will be completely satisfied and it is worth the wait!
